LIONS DEFEAT RAMAPO IN NJAC ACTION

Ewing, NJ:  The Lions of the College of New Jersey defeated the Ramapo College women's basketball team, 58-44, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up tonight.  With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 4-8 overall, and remain defeated in the conference at 0-6, while the Lions improve to 7-5 overall and get their second win in conference play to jump to 2-4. 
 
Kelly Coughlin led the Lions shooting 6-9 from the field, collecting 18 points.  The team combined hitting 21-51 (41%) in the win while Jessica Goldbach chipped in 12 points of her own.  Goldback led with seven boards and Kylie O'Donnell and Coughlin each grabbed three steals on the night.
 
The Lions held the Roadrunners to just five baskets in the first half of play, jumping out to an 18-point, 33-15, halftime lead behind 12 points from Coughlin.  The team hit a combined 12-26 (46%) in the first 20 minutes of play, and forced ten Ramapo turnovers. Goldbach added seven points in the half and pulled down a team high five boards.  Ramapo's Kelly Lane hit 2-4 in the first half, collecting a team leading six points, as her team went 5-26 (19%). 
 
In the second half of play, Coughlin netted a team leading six points and the team shot 36% hitting 9-25 from the field.  The Roadrunners matched the Lions throwing down nine field goals but it wasn't enough as the Lions surpassed Ramapo, 58-44 on the night.  Doris Ilic led the Roadrunners with seven points in the final half of play.  The team went 9-28 (32%).
 
For the night, Kerrie Kosakowski led the Roadrunners with nine points and I'india Davenport chipped in eight points, as the team went 14-54 (26%) hitting 14-17 from the free throw line.  Davenport grabbed three steals and pulled down a team high four rebounds along with Tierney Henderson and Alyson Oostdyk.
 
Ramapo returns to action on Monday, January 12th when they travel to conference rival Richard Stockton for a 2pm tip-off.
