RAMAPO COMES UP SHORT IN MATCH-UP WITH DELAWARE VALLEY

Mahwah, NJ:  The Roadrunners came up just short at the Bradley Center today falling to the Aggies of Delaware Valley, 80-81, in a non-conference men's basketball match-up.  Delaware Valley improves to 7-6 overall on the year, while the Roadrunners fall to 9-3.
 
The Roadrunners came within just one point, after falling behind by 23 at the half, but they couldn't surpass the Aggies, who led the entire game, pulling out the one-point, 81-80 non-conference win in Mahwah. 
 
Delaware Valley drained ten long shots in the win, and were led by Francis Arnold's 24 points.  Arnold shot 7-10 from the field including 2-4 from behind the three-point arc, as the team went 26-59(44%) in the win.  Nick Sullivan collected 21 points and Chris Moran sank 15, while grabbing a team-high four steals on the day. 
 
The Aggies opened to a 50-27 half time lead after shooting 16-31 (52%) from the field, including seven three-point goals. Sullivan led the Aggies with 13 points as he shot 4-7 from the field and 3-5 from behind the arc.  The Aggies opened up to an 8-0 start, capped off with a three-pointer from Sullivan, forcing a Ramapo timeout.  Out of the timeout, Ramapo's James Long drained a long shot to finally get the Roadrunners on the board.   That would be the only basket over the next three-plus minutes for the Roadrunners as Delaware Valley worked their way to an 18-3 lead, forcing another Ramapo time-out at 13:42.  Long responded again for the Roadrunners out of the timeout nailing three straight long shots to close the gap, 12-18.  Zach Sibel and Sullivan would hit threes to put the Aggies up by ten, 24-14 with 10:40 to play in the half.  Ramapo would close the gap to nine on two occasions but it wasn't enough as Delaware Valley stretched their lead to 23 points, 50-27, at the buzzer.  A last second basket came from Moran.  Long led the Roadrunners with 12 points in the half shooting 4-7 from behind the arc, as the team went 9-29 (31%).
 
The two teams traded baskets at the start of the second half before Ramapo strung together five points to close the gap, 40-58 with 15:19 to play with a basket from Christopher Mosley.  Arnold responded with the ninth three-pointer of the game to put Delaware Valley up, 61-40.  Over the next three minutes, the Roadrunners outscored the Aggies, 12-4 to close the gap, 65-52, forcing a Delaware Valley timeout with 11:16 on the clock.  Sullivan drained his fifth three of the game out of the timeout, before Mosley dropped in two points to trail by 14 with just over ten minutes to play.  Ramapo broke within eight points, 62-70 at 6:37, with a basket from Long, before Josh Ford sank two off a long pass from Frank Nock, to close the gap, 64-70 with 5:45 to play.  A three from Ford put Ramapo within three, 67-70, and a free throw from Ve'Shawn Polite put Ramapo within two points, 68-70 with 4:23 to play.  Arnold would drop two points but miss a free throw to lead by 72-68, before he struck again landing two points and the extra charity point to go ahead, 75-68 with 3:38 on the clock.  Down the stretch, Mosley and Nock drained three pointers to come within two with just over one minute to play, before Nock collected three free throws after a foul to come within one, 78-79 with 51 seconds to play.  In the final seconds, the Aggies collected three points to Ramapo's one, collecting the win on the road.  Arnold dropped 14-second half points and the team combined hitting 10-28 (36%) from the field.  Ramapo went 19-29 (66%) and were led by Moseley with 16 points.  Ford dropped in13 points in the final half of play.
 
Polite and Moseley led the Roadrunners with 16 points each as the team went 28-58 (48%) in the loss.  Moseley got the double-double with 11 rebounds and Long wrapped up the night with 14 points.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, January 7th when they travel to NJAC rival TCNJ at 8pm.
