Glassboro, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell to Rowan University today on the road in a NJAC conference game, 71-53. The Profs improve to 13-4 overall, 9-2 in the conference while the Roadrunners now stand at 4-14 overall, 0-11 in the NJAC.
Ramapo jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead with a layup from
Kellie Lane and a three-pointer from
Dejha Flood before Rowan tied the game and took the lead in the next two minutes. The Profs biggest lead of the first half came with 7:34 to play 25-16 before the Roadrunner shrunk the lead to one on a
Bintou Berete jumper 24-25 with 5:14 to go in the half. Rowan then took a four-point lead into the locker room at halftime 30-26.
Rowan took control in the second half, seeing their biggest lead come in the final minutes of the game as they pulled away with an 18-point lead 71-53. The Profs forced 29 Ramapo turnovers, resulting in 37 points. Rowan shot 40% (27-67) from the field, 30% (6-20) from beyond the three-point line and 68% (11-16) from the foul line. Bria Hill led the team with 11 points while Jade Bonder added ten points of her own. Kate Matthews led the team in rebounds with 12 and two blocks.
For the Roadrunners, Lane led the team with 13 points while Flood added 11 points of her own and Berete added eight points.
Grace Elliott and Flood each grabbed seven rebounds in the game. Ramapo shot 36% (19-52) from the field, 37% (3-8) from beyond the three-point line and 80% (12-15) from the foul line. Ramapo held a slight edge in rebounds, 39-37.
The Roadrunners return to action on January 28th when they host Kean University at 5:30pm.
