Wayne, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell to NJAC rival William Paterson University tonight, 67-49. The Roadrunners now stand at 4-13 overall, 0-10 in the conference while the Pioneers improve to 10-7 overall, 6-4 in the conference.
Ramapo was led by
Grace Elliott, who tallied nine points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
Kerrie Kosakowski grabbed six rebounds and posted eight points while
Kellie Lane added six points of her own.
Jina Crawford recorded eight rebounds and six points in the game. The Roadrunners shot 32% (15-46) from the field, 16% from beyond the three-point line and 64% (18-28) from the foul line. Ramapo forced 12 Pioneer turnovers in the game resulting in 14 points.
Four players for WPU scored in double figures as they were led by Jackie Rodriquez who scored 17 points including three three-pointers. Sara Luberto tallied 11 points while Alex Milne recorded a double-double, ten points and 11 rebounds. Brittany Harden added ten points and five assists in the game. The Pioneers shot 33% (25-75) from the field, 35% (5-14) from beyond the three-point line and 75% (12-16) from the foul line. They forced 25 Roadrunner turnovers resulting in 27 points.
Ramapo came back in the second half only down three heading into the locker room, 26-29. They scored the final five points of the first half to shrink the Pioneer lead. In the second half WPU took control going on a 14-0 run to take a 44-28 lead with just under 12 minutes to play in the second half. The Roadrunners shrunk the lead to seven, 37-44, with 10:09 on the clock before the Pioneers pulled away taking a 16 point lead, 56-40, with 6:06 left to play in the game. Ramapo went on a mini 7-0 run, capped off by a pair of foul shots from Flood, coming within nine, 47-56, with 4:08 to play. WPU then went on an 11-0 run in the final four minutes of play while the Roadrunners scored the final basket of the game as Elliott tallied a layup with eight seconds remaining.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, January 24th when they travel to Rowan University for a 1:00pm conference match-up.
