RUTGERS CAMDEN DROPS RAMAPO IN NJAC PLAY

Mahwah, NJ:  The Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden proved to be too much for the Ramapo College women's basketball team as the defeated the Roadrunners, 76-57 today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Bradley Center.  Behind 26 points from Kamari Talley, the Scarlet Raptors grab their second conference win to improve to 2-7, 6-10 overall.  Ramapo falls to 4-11, 0-9 in the NJAC. 
 
Talley shot 10-20 from the field and sank 5-9 from the charity stripe for her 26 points in the win.  Talley grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while Cara Racobaldo collected 18 points and Alex Gravinese netted 17.  Rutgers Camden went 28-58 (48%) on the day.  Racobaldo dished out a team high eight assists, while grabbing nine steals in the win.
 
The Roadrunners scored the first basket of the game before the Scarlet Raptors went on a 19-0 run to jump ahead, 19-2 with a basket from Talley at 10:28.  Rutgers Camden worked to their biggest lead of 22 with 3:19 left to play when Talley nailed a two-point goal to put her team ahead 34-12.  The two teams traded baskets in the final minutes leaving Rutgers Camden ahead, 40-20 at the halftime buzzer.  Talley finished the half with a team leading 16 points and Gravinese added ten, as the team shot a combined 13-28 (46%).  The Roadrunners were held to eight field goals in the first half of play shooting 8-21 (38%), behind six points from Grace Elliott.  Ramapo committed 22 turnovers in the first 20 minutes of play.
 
The second half proved to be much of the same as the Scarlet Raptors worked to a 25-point advantage just 12 seconds in after a basket from Talley put Rutgers Camden up 53-28.  At 5:58, Ramapo came within 15, 51-66 with a basket from Elliott which capped off a mini 4-0 run, but Talley responded with a three-point goal to put her team ahead, 69-51 with five and a half minutes to play.  Rutgers Camden kept strong down the stretch earning the 76-57 conference win.  Talley added ten points in the second half and Racobaldo added ten of her own as the team went 15-30 (50%) in the half.  Elliott led the Roadrunners with 11 points as Ramapo put away 18-35 (51%) from the field.
 
Elliott finished on top of all Roadrunners with a double-double that included 17 points and ten boards.  Kellie Lane collected 12 points and Dejha Flood grabbed a team high four steals. 
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, January 19th when they host Hunter College at 5:30pm at the Bradley Center.
