Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

RAMAPO SWEEPS WILLIAM PATERSON

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 (26-24, 25-12, 25-17) sweep over the Pioneers of William Paterson University tonight in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Bradley Center. With the conference victory, the Roadrunners improve to 8-3 overall, 2-0 in the conference, while WPU picks up their first loss of the season at 12-1 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC.

In game one, the Roadrunners pulled out a 26-24 win behind eight kills from rookie Larysa Iwaskiw. The team combined for 17 kills and hit .192, ahead of William Paterson's .167 in the game one win. Emily Harris led the team's defense with nine digs and Kaitlin Mac Iver dished out nine assists.  Nicole Herrmann assisted on four points.  Issel Garcia led the Pioneers with four kills and Shauna VanDeRee picked up a team leading nine digs.

Game two went to Ramapo, 25-12 as Iwaskiw once again led the way with four kills. Emily Guzman also contributed four kills to the win. Ramapo hit .455 with a combined 12 kills on 22 attempts with just two errors. Mac Iver dished out five assists and Herrmann added six, while Harris picked up five digs. The Pioneers were led by Nicole Spicer and VanDeRee who each collected two kills as the team went 7-27 with seven errors hitting .000.  Alaina Clark assisted on six plays and Erin Roach picked up a team leading three digs.

The Roadrunners took the final game, 25-17 after Iwaskiw and Guzman each added five kills as the team went 12-29 with four errors hitting .276. Herrmann dished out seven assists and Harris picked up four digs. Daniella Salemo and Roach led the Pioneers with three kills each, while Clark assisted on eight points.

Iwaskiw finished the night with a team leading 17 kills and Guzman added 13, while the team recorded a combined 41 kills on 103 attempts hitting .272 on the night. Mac Iver led the way with 18 assists and Herrmann collected 17 of her own. Harris picked up a team leading 18 digs and Iwaskiw added nine.

William Paterson hit .111 as a team with Salemo leading the way with seven kills. The team put away a combined 27 kills. Clark dished out 19 assists and VanDeRee picked up 13 digs in the loss.

Ramapo returns to action this weekend when they face off with New York University at the Stevens Institute of Technology Invitational on Friday, September 26th at 4pm, and Brooklyn College at 6pm.
