MEN'S SOCCER PLAYS TO 3-3 DRAW WITH STOCKTON

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College Roadrunners and the Ospreys of Richard Stockton, played to a 3-3 tie today in a New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer match-up at the Athletic Center.  With the tie, Ramapo stands at 5-2-2 overall, while Stockton sits at 6-1-2.

In an intense conference match-up in Mahwah, it was Ramapo College who got on the scoreboard first with a goal from rookie Justin Olaya after a scramble in the box.  The goal came in the 16th minute.  Stockton's Anthony Colofranson, off a dish from Alex Kourahanis, tied the game just over 14 minutes later, before Colofranson assisted on a goal ahead goal (2-1) at 35:25, the goal coming from Jared Ruff, his first of the season.  The score remained until the halftime buzzer where Stockton held a slight, 7-5 advantage in shots.  Matthew Hernandez made three saves for the Roadrunners while Bobby Varga blocked one for Stockton.

Rookie Modou Sowe tied the game for Ramapo at 56:32, with his seventh team-leading goal of the season, before rookie Kevin Villanueva ripped a shot past Varga to take a 3-2 lead at 81:59.  Cristian Trujillo earned the assist on the play.  Once again the game was knotted after Colofranson struck again, this time off a dish from Mike DeFeo, with under six minutes to play in regulation.

With just ten seconds left in the game, Stockton was awarded a penalty kick, but Ramapo's Hernandez came up huge making the save and forcing overtime play.

Stockton again held an advantage in shots over Ramapo in the second period, this time, 10-6.  Hernandez blocked five more shots and Varga collected one additional save.

In the first overtime period, Ramapo had two chances and Stockton three, while the final period of play brought two additional shots for both teams, finishing the day with Stockton ahead in shots, 21-16.

Hernandez wrapped up the day with nine saves and Varga four, while the Ospreys held a 9-6 advantage in corner kicks.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 24th when they host SUNY Purchase at 4:15pm at the Athletic Center.
