Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

NYU DOWNS RAMAPO, 1-4

New York, NY:  The Ramapo College women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-4 decision tonight to NYU on the road, to fall to 1-3-2 overall on the year.  With the victory, NYU improves to 3-3.

NYU got on the scoreboard in the 23rd minute, when Cami Crawford dished a ball to Stephanie Ho, who collected her first goal of the season, to put NYU ahead 1-0.  Melissa Menta got her first goal of the season at 38:21, before Claire Shanahan, off a dish from Amy Elgin, gave NYU a three goal lead with under five minutes to play in the half.  At 43:37, Ashley Cardounel capitalized on a penalty kick to head into halftime, with a 4-0 lead over Ramapo.

The Roadrunners played the entire second half down a man, but despite playing short, were able to break the shutout with a goal from Autumn Herring at 86:17.  Herring beat the defense before chipping the ball over the goaltender's hands.  The lone goal wasn't enough to get past NYU, taking the three-goal, 1-4 loss on the road.

NYU held a 25-2 advantage in shots for the game, while Ramapo's Hayley Walther and Taylor Marcialis combined for 12 saves on the night.  Cassie Steinberg went untested for NYU.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, September 20th when they travel to Richard Stockton for a 3pm match-up, their first NJAC match-up of the season.
