Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

RAMAPO AND OLD WESTBURY PLAY TO 5-5 DRAW

Old Westbury, NY: The Ramapo College women's soccer team and Old Westbury College played to a 5-5 tie this afternoon in a non-conference game.

The Roadrunners now stand at 1-2-2 overall while the Panthers stand at 3-1-1 overall.

Old Westbury took a 2-1 lead into half time. Kelsey Sutherland scored off a pass from Nicole Ninomiya to put Ramapo in the lead, 1-0 before the Panthers scored back-to-back goals from Emily Winberry and Stephanie Maybie for the, 2-1, lead. In the first half, Ramapo out shot the Panthers, 11-9. The Roadrunners also held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks in the half.

In the second half, Ninomiya scored her fourth goal of the year off a pass from Autumn Herring to tie the game at two. Maybie scored for the Panthers to take the lead before Sutherland scored her second goal of the game for Ramapo to once again tie the game, 3-3. In the 64th minute, Ninomiya put the Roadrunners in the lead, 4-3, off a pass from Herring.

Maybie scored back-to-back goals for Old Westbury, earning a hat trick, and propelling them to a 5-4 lead in the 82nd minute of the game. The Roadrunners would come back to tie the game in the final minute of the, as two rookies teamed up tie tie the game, 5-5. Gabriella DiLiberto took a pass from Nani Vizcaino and was able to get her head on it and push the ball past the keeper.

Neither team could score in the two overtime periods. Ramapo held a 29-26 advantage in shots in the game and a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.

For the Roadrunners, Taylor Marcialis posted seven saves in the full 110:00 minutes of the game. For the Panthers, Caitlin Thomas tallied five saves in the first 65 minutes of play before Melissa Muller recorded seven saves in the final 45 minutes of the game.

Ramapo returns to action on September 17th at 7pm when they travel to New York University for a non-conference game.
