Mahwah, NJ: The Lady Roadrunners picked up an 8-1 victory today over Brooklyn College, in a non-conference women's tennis match-up at the Athletic Center. With the victory, the Roadrunners improve to 16-2 overall. Brooklyn gets their fourth loss of the year falling to 13-4.
Carly Agrifolio opened the scoring for the Roadrunners defeating Suraya Maenhout, 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, before
Sara Luby took second singles, 6-0, 6-2 over Norma Lynn Chabbott.
Stephanie Abrecht defeated Olayinka Sarayi, 6-1, 6-0 at third singles, and
Micala Demchak collected a win (8-1) at fourth singles, before Brooklyn collected their first point of the match, with Julia Krechman earning a point (2-6, 6-3, 10-4) in the fifth singles match-up over Ramapo's Meagan Heaney. The final singles face off went to Ramapo where
Elena Maria Ilieva earned an 8-3 victory to lead Brooklyn, 5-1 heading into doubles play.
Agrifolio and Luby teamed up at first doubles sweeping the Brooklyn pair, 8-0, before Abrecht and Heaney posted a win of their own in the second doubles spot, 8-1.
Ivy Schuckman and Demchak wrapped up the match with an 8-6 win in the final doubles pairing.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, April 30th, when they play their final match of the 2013-2014 season, heading to Farmingdale for a 5pm match-up.
