WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO MONTCLAIR STATE

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's basketball team fell to No. 7/9 Montclair State University today, 71-34. The Red Hawks remain undefeated at 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners stand at 3-4 overall and 0-4 in the NJAC.
 
Montclair jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game before Ramapo got on the board at 12:20 with a pair of free throws from Grace Elliott. The Red Hawks controlled the pace of the game taking a 28-point lead into the locker room up, 41-13.
 
In the second half, Ramapo cut the lead to 23 with a three-pointer from Doris Ilic with 18:01 on the clock but that was as small as the margin would get. The Red Hawks led by 26 or more points the rest of the way en route to a, 71-34 win.
 
Ilic led the Roadrunners with 11 points and two steals while Elliott added eight points while Kerrie Kosakowski tallied six points. Elliott also recorded five blocks and four rebounds. The Roadrunners grabbed 29 rebounds in the game and caused 15 MSU turnovers. Ramapo shot 25% (10-39) from the field and 46% (12-26) from the free point line.
 
For the Red Hawks, three players scored in double digits. Katie Sire and Kayla Ceballos scored 13 points apiece while Melissa Tobie added 11 points and eight rebounds. Kate Tobie dished out a team high seven assists while Janitza Aquino added seven points of her own. The Red Hawks grabbed 60 rebounds in the game and caused 21 Roadrunner turnovers. Montclair shot 39% (30-76) from the field and 21% (6-28) from beyond the three-point line.
 
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, December 10th when they host New Jersey City University in a NJAC game at 5:30pm.
 
The Ramapo College athletic department has announced free admission to the final home basketball games of the 2014 portion of the season. All fans are asked to participate! For free entrance to the games, please bring a minimum of two non-perishable food items to the ticket table in the lobby of the Bradley Center. Ramapo family season pass holders are also asked to donate to this cause. Ramapo students with ID cards will earn a free Ramapo Rowdie T-shirt by donating. All donations will be given to the Mahwah Center for Food Action.
