Union, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team improved to 10-1 overall today, 4-1 in conference play, as they defeated the Cougars of Kean University, 8-1 on the road. With the loss the Cougars fall to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Carly Agrifolio opened the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at first singles, before
Vasundhra Gandotra grabbed a 6-1, 6-1 point for the Roadrunners at second singles, defeating Naylah Hinton of Kean.
Katrina Biss and
Micala Demchak posted singles wins of their own. First Biss, at third singles, earned a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 win, before Demchak defeated Shruti Nadkarni, 6-1, 7-5 in the fourth spot.
Elena Maria Ilieva and
Ivy Schuckman rounded out singles action with 6-4, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 wins respectively.
Agrifolio and Gandotra swept a Cougar pair, 8-0 at first singles, and Ilieva and Schuckman posted an 8-1 doubles win in the third spot, while Kean's lone point of the match-up came at second doubles when Ayana Bell and Nadkarni defeated Biss and Demchak, 8-5.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow, October 8th, when they host the College of Staten Island at 4pm at the Athletic Center.
