Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team fell to NJAC rival Rowan University today at the Athletic Center, 2-1. The Roadrunners are the first NJAC team to score on the Profs so far this season.
Rowan improves to 9-2 overall and remains undefeated in the conference, 4-0. The Roadrunners fall to 2-6-2 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC.
The Profs got on the board in the first half with a breakaway goal by Melissa Kelly in the ninth minute, her third goal of the year. The Profs held a 8-5 edge in shots in the first half.
In the second half, Rowan scored an insurance goal in the 49th minute of the game. Morgan Myers collected a clear off a corner kick and shot it into the back of the net past a diving Roadrunner keeper, 2-0. It was her first goal of the season.
Rookie
Nani Vizcaino scored her fifth goal of season in the 64th minute with a header off a cross from the left side of the goal from
Gabriella DiLiberto. Ramapo could not score another goal to extend the game as Rowan came away with the 2-1 victory.
The Profs held a 19-10 advantage in shots in the game and a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.
Jessica Cusick made five stops for the Roadrunners in goal while Prof goalie Carleigh Triviano recorded five saves of her own.
The Roadrunners return to action on October 8th when they host the College of Staten Island in a non-conference game at 3pm.
