Patchogue, NY: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team improved to 23-8 overall with four wins at the St. Joseph's - LI Tournament.
On Friday evening, Ramapo defeated Keystone College, 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-21) on court two and later defeated Wilkes University, 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-16).
Against Keystone (9-15 overall),
Larysa Iwaskiw posted 16 kills, seven digs and two aces while
Cathryn Smart tallied eight kills of her own.
Emily Guzman recorded seven kills and one solo block.
Kaitlin Mac Iver dished out 27 assists while
Irmak Dagistanli led the team with nine digs. The team hit .242 in the match and tallied 34 total kills.
Against Wilkes University (10-14 overall) the Roadrunners earned their 20th win the season. Iwaskiw hit .500 with 14 kills on 24 attempts and Guzman recorded ten kills on 19 attempts to hit, .368. She also tallied five solo blocks in the game. Mac Iver dished out 29 assists while Dagistanli led the team with eight digs. Ramapo tallied 30 kills in the match and recorded a .438 hitting percentage.
On Saturday against Alfred (22-4 overall), Iwaskiw posted 14 kills, ten digs and three aces to lead the team.
Amanda Rose added eight kills of her own while Guzman recorded nine kills.
Cathryn Smart tallied seven kills and three digs while Mac Iver dished out 29 assists to lead the team. Dagistanli also posted ten digs in the match. The team put down 37 kills while they hit .154 in the match
In their final match of the weekend against St. Joseph's - LI (16-10 overall), Iwaskiw once again led the team with 13 kills, nine digs and two aces. With her first kill of the match she broke the single season kills record at Ramapo with her 456th kill of the season. Iwaskiw now has 469 kills in her rookie season. Guzman hit .667 in the match with nine kills on 12 attempts along with one solo block. Smart posted five kills of her own while Mac Iver added four kills and 25 assists. Dagistanli led the team on defense with ten digs. The team recorded 29 kills in the match and hit .256.
Ramapo returns to action when they host NJAC rival Richard Stockton College at 7pm. The Roadrunners will honor their senior class prior to the start of the match.
