Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team ranked #8 in the latest NCAA New York regional rankings defeated rival #1 ranked Richard Stockton College, 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-17). Ramapo now stands at 24-8 overall, 6-2 in the NJAC while the Osprey's stand at 25-5 overall, 7-1 in the conference.
The Roadrunners snapped the Osprey's run of 49 straight wins against NJAC opponents. Stockton last lost to an NJAC team on October 28th, 2009. Ramapo has not defeated the Osprey's under head coach Rob Pichardo, the last time coming during the 1998 season. Ramapo has earned the #4 seed in the upcoming NJAC Tournament after finishing the season tied with Kean and Rowan at 6-2 overall. The tournament begins Tuesday, November 4th when they host #5 Montclair State University at 7pm.
Rookie
Larysa Iwaskiw led the Roadrunners in the match as she put down 14 kills while sophomore
Emily Guzman added 12 kills, hitting .435. Guzman also added three total kills including two solo blocks. Senior
Katelyn Ward hit .429 in the match with seven kills, she also added one solo block. Sophomore
Irmak Dagistanli led the team on defense with 16 digs and a perfect passing percentage. Junior captain
Kaitlin Mac Iver dished out a team high 30 assists and recorded 12 digs along with one assisted block. The Roadrunners hit .233 in the match with 41 kills and 53 digs.
For the Ospreys, Macy Schwartz led the team with 14 kills as she hit .312 in the match. Ali Giordano recorded seven kills while Kara Glynn tallied six of her own. Emily Grube led the team on defense with 15 digs while Megan Nichols added ten digs of her own. Shannon Clark dished out a team high 16 assists in the match while Jessica Ciandella posted 13 of her own. Stockon tallied 37 kills in the match as they hit .147 as a team. The Ospreys earned the #1 seed in the upcoming NJAC Tournament and will host the semifinal match on Thursday, November 6th against the winner of #4 Ramapo vs. #5 Montcalir State.
