Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team, behind senior
Andrew Kirshteyn, posted a 2-1 victory over the Colonials of Western Connecticut State University, today at the Athletic Center. With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 8-7-2 overall. The Colonials fall to 6-9-1.
The first half of the game went scoreless as the Roadrunners held a 7-4 advantage in shots, and corner kicks went even at four a piece. It was Kirshteyn that got Ramapo on the scoreboard in the 62nd minute when
Nick Brancato gave a cross to Kirshteyn which he ripped past the Western Connecticut goaltender.
Kirstyen struck again just under five minutes later on an unassisted goal, to put Ramapo ahead, 2-0. Western Connecticut's Phil Dagostino broke the shut out with an unassisted goal at 77:14, his sixth of the season, to close the gap back to one goal, 1-2.
Brady O'Connor made seven saves in the net for Ramapo holding onto the 2-1 non-conference victory, while Austin Tierny made five saves in net for the Colonials.
The Roadrunners return to NJAC action on Saturday, October 25th when they travel to Montclair State University for a 6pm match-up.
