Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's swimming team faced off with the Lions of the College of New Jersey today in their 2014-2015 New Jersey Athletic Conference season opener at the Bradley Center. The Lions proved to be too much for Ramapo as they defeated the Roadrunners, 163-92. Ramapo falls to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC, while TCNJ opens the year at 1-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Ramapo's 200-yard medley relay team, made up of Drew Ramos,
RJ Carillo,
Jose Alferez, and Philip Sokoloff, placed 2nd overall finishing the race in 1:39.62, while
Brian Henningsen earned a 2nd place finish of his own in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Henningsen touched the pool side in 10:42.40, collecting four points for the Roadrunners. Henningsen also placed 2nd in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:12.85.
Carillo placed 2nd in the 100-yard breaststroke for four points. He clocked in at 1:02.39, before
Kevin Guo added an additional four points in the 50-yard freestyle sprint. Guo clocked in at 22.60 seconds. Guo also placed 2nd in the 100-yard freestyle clocking in at 50.56 for another four points for the Roadrunners, while Carillo finished the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:29.10 for 2nd place overall.
Peter Kellner posted a 2nd place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. He clocked in at 2:05.59, before Sokoloff touched the pool side in 2:06.66 for three points and 3rd place overall.
The 100-yard butterflies' 2nd place finisher was Ramapo's
Evan Graziano, who finished the race in 56.30, while Alferez placed 3rd in 56.61. Ramos earned a 2nd place ribbon of his own in the 200-yard IM, where he clocked in at 2:10.15.
The Roadrunners wrapped up the day with the 400-yard freestyle relay placing 2nd in 3:26.32, with a combined effort from Guo, Kellner,
Charlie May, and Sokoloff.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, November 1st when they host CSI at 2pm at the Bradley Center.
