Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's soccer team dropped a tough 3-0 decision today to the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Athletic Center. With the loss, the Roadrunners fall to 6-4-2 overall, 0-2-1 in the conference. Rutgers Newark jumps to 10-2 overall, and remains undefeated in conference play at 3-0.
Just over 11 minutes into the game, Tyler Nowak collected his first goal of the season to put the Scarlet Raiders up, 1-0. It would be the lone goal of the first 45 minutes of play where Rutgers Newark held an 11-2 advantage in shots.
Brady O'Connor made five first half saves for Ramapo, while Matt Broomall made two in net for Rutgers Newark.
Charlie O'Connell scored an unassisted goal at 54:50 and Dylan Elias knocked one in off a cross from Alex Torres in the second half of play, giving the Scarlet Raiders the 3-0 shut out win over Ramapo. Rutgers Newark again held an advantage in shots, 11-5, and O'Connor made six additional saves in net for the Roadrunners. Broomall finished the day with three total saves.
Ramapo takes on Rowan University on the road on Saturday, October 4th, when they return to action at 7pm.
