Box Score 2 Mahwah, NJ: Montclair State University softball team swept Ramapo College today to remain undefeated and improve to 22-0 overall, 8-0 in the NJAC while the Roadrunners fall to 13-9 overall, 4-4 in the conference.
Starting pitcher, Alex Hill led Montclair to both wins striking out 16 in game one and 11 in game two, improving to 18-0.
MSU sophomore Tara Petrucelli scored the game winning run in the fifth inning when she hit a home run over the centerfield fence, 1-0. The Redhawks then tacked on an additional run in the seventh inning when junior Dana Amato hit a double to right center and advanced to third on an. Junior Alisha Cumberton then ripped a single bringing home Amato, 2-0.
Tess Sala contributed with Ramapo's only hit in the game in the fourth inning. Ramapo starting pitcher, junior pitcher
Harley Masiello (7-4) went the distance, scattering three hits and striking out three.
In game two the Redhawks scored the only run in the seventh inning when Jamie Paulino singled down the left field line allowing Katie Muglia to score, to take a 1-0 lead. Muglia reached earlier in the inning with a double to right field and advanced to third on a ground out.
