Box Score 2 Pomona, NJ: Richard Stockton (25-8, 8-6 NJAC) extended their winning streak to six as they swept an NJAC doubleheader 4-1 and 3-1 over Ramapo College (15-15, 5-9 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon.
In game one, Ramapo struck first with a run in the fourth inning when
Caitlin Smith doubled and moved to third on an infield groundout before scoring on a Osprey's wild pitch. Stockton came right back to tie as Nicole Scanlon tripled down the right field line to lead off the bottom half of the inning. Dominique Dorris lifted a sacrifice fly to score pinch runner Marisa Ortiz to knot the contest at 1-1.
The Ospreys took the lead the next inning on a Jessica Goncalves single, a sacrifice bunt and a Dorris RBI single for the 2-1 margin. Stockton sealed the game with two runs in their half of the sixth. Nichole Terreri walked and Gianna Cuffari reached on an infield single. After a sacrifice bunt, Goncalves plated both runners with her third hit of the game for a 4-1 count.
Michelle Pietrocola won her 12th game of the season and struck out 13 in with a five-hitter. Goncalves had two RBI while Scanlon had two hits and Dorris two RBI.
Kim LaPenta rapped two of the Roadrunners' five hits.
Harley Masiello (7-8) took the loss.
In the nightcap, all the scoring happened in the first three innings, with Stockton jumping out first. Terreri walked, stole second and scored on Scanlon's RBI single for a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Ospreys added two more in the bottom of the second for the 3-0 lead. Ramapo cut the lead to 3-1 on three singles in the top of the fourth inning as neither team scored after the fourth inning.
Brittany Ksiezopolski scattering five hits while striking out one en route to victory number 12 for the sweep.
Nicole Schneider (7-7) suffered the loss for Ramapo.
Hannah Mucerino had two hits for the Roadrunners in the second game.
Ramapo returns to action on Tuesday in an NJAC doubleheader when they host New Jersey City University at 3:00pm.
