Box Score 2 Mahwah, NJ: After posting a tough 10-1 loss in game one to Moravian College, the Ramapo College softball team rallied in the bottom of the 7th inning in game two, to defeat the Greyhounds, 3-2, in a non-conference double-header match-up in Mahwah, With the double-header split, the Roadrunners stand at 15-13 overall, while Moravian stands at 27-9.
Moravian scattered ten runs and 11 hits, with seven Ramapo errors, across seven innings in game one, to defeat Ramapo, 10-1, but it was nine Ramapo hits in game two, five coming in the 7th inning, that gave the Roadrunners the come-from-behind 7th inning rally win, 3-2, in game two.
Moravian took a 2-0 lead after five innings, as Jenn Dalickas blasted a solo homerun in the 2nd inning, and Rachel DeLucia ripped a double, which scored Lindsay Sullivan in the 5th.
The 6th inning went by scoreless but the Roadrunners came out on fire in the bottom of the 7th posting three runs, including a solo homerun from
Kelsey Higgins, to take the game.
Higgins ripped a homerun over the centerfield fence to lead off the inning, and with two outs,
Erin Witherspoon,
Amanda Kent, and
Tess Sala, hit back-to-back-to-back singles, bringing home Witherspoon, to tie the game at two runs each. With runners on second and third,
Mikayla Melendez ripped a single into right field driving home Kent, for the walk off game winning run.
Sala finished the game 2-4 with one RBI and Kent and Witherspoon went 1-3 and 1-1 respectively with one run each. Higgins finished the game hitting 1-3 with one run and one RBI.
Nicole Schneider gets the win pitching the complete game, collecting one strike out and one walk, letting up five hits. She improves to 7-6 on the year.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, April 20th when they travel to Richard Stockton for a 1pm match-up in Pomona, NJ.
