Box Score Staten Island, NY: The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to the College of Staten Island tonight, 92-109, in a non-conference road game.
The Roadrunners (4-4) were led by rookie
George Sapp who tallied 24 points while sophomore
Tyler Barnes scored 15 points including going 2-2 from beyond the three point line. Sapp was a perfect 8-8 from the foul line while senior
Terry Hicks dished out four assists and scored 13 points and rookie
Alex DeCandia added nine points of his own. Ramapo scored 47% (30-63) from the floor in the game and 83% (6-14) from the foul line. The Roadrunners also made six threes as they shot 42% (6-14) from beyond the three point line. Ramapo held a slight advantage in rebounds in the game, 36-32.
The Dolphins (5-2) had four different players score in double figures in the game. Will Fonseca came off the bench to score a season high 31 points while Frankie Schettino tallied 23 points and 13 assists. Javon Cox and Matt Van Manen scored 16 and 11 points respectively. CSI shot 57% (40-70) from the field, 30% (4-13) from beyond the three point line and 75% from the foul line (25-33).
Ramapo would lead the way in the first half and led by as many as 11 (10:09), 26-19, before CSI cut the lead to four, 27-23, (8:15). Ramapo extended their lead to seven on a layup from rookie
Thomas Bonacum (6:34) before the Dolphins took the lead following a 9-0 run capped off by a layup from Cox, 36-34, with 4:47 left in the half. The game would be tied five times down the stretch and the final time coming with two seconds left as CSI hit a shot to head into the locker room tied, 49-49.
CSI would control the second half, taking a two point lead to start the half (18:35), 51-49. The Dolphins would take a 11 point lead with nine minutes to play in the game as they began to pull away from the Roadrunners. CSI would hold their biggest lead of the game with 3:26 on the clock, 107-77, before Ramapo ended the game on an 15-2 run, 92-109.
Ramapo will take on Wesley College on December 21st at 3pm in their final home game of 2013.
