KEAN TOPS RAMAPO, 88-54

Box Score Union, NJ:  The Kean University women's basketball team improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with an 88-54 win over visiting Ramapo College (2-3, 1-1 NJAC).

The two teams traded baskets to open the game before Moore put the Roadrunners ahead by two, 4-2, with 18:20 on the clock on a made basket. That was the last time the Roadrunners would hold a lead in the game as Kean would go on a 15-0 run capped off by a made basket from Jazmine Davis to take a 17-4 lead (15:00). The Cougars would take their biggest lead of the half, 26-8, with 10:06 on the clock following a three pointer from Stephanie Carlone. Ramapo would go on a mini 8-0 run of their own as Moore scored all eight points for the Roadrunners, cutting the lead to ten, 26-16 (8:02) on a pair of made foul shots. Kean would extend their lead back to 18, 40-22 with just 1:28 to play in the half. Ramapo hit a pair of foul shots with nine seconds left in the half, heading into the locker room down 16, 24-40. 

The Roadrunners shot 32% (8-25) from the field in the first half and 70% (7-10) from the foul line. The Cougars shot 54% (18-33) from the field and 33% (4-12) from beyond the three-point line. Kean did not shoot a foul shot in the first half.

The Cougars went on a 13-2 run to open the second half, extending their lead, 53-26 with just 16:17 remaining in the game. The Roadrunners went on a 6-0 run capped off by a Kellie Lane made basket, cutting the lead to 21, 32-53 (13:05). That as close as the Roadrunners would get as Kean pulled away for an 88-54 NJAC victory.

Moore led the Roadrunners with 14 points and a team high six rebounds. Moore also tallied four steals and one assist. Anna Fucci collected 12 points while Lane posted ten points and four rebounds. Kelly Haspel added eight points and three rebounds.

For Kean, Carlone led both teams with 22 points. She also tallied six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Simone Smith recorded 17 points and seven rebounds while AnnaRose Pierre added six rebounds and 11 points.

The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Invitational hosted by St. John Fisher on Saturday, November 30th. Ramapo will take on Union College at 4:00pm.
