Nicole Ninomiya each scored goals to lead the Ramapo College women's soccer team over NJAC rival Rutgers-Camden University today, 3-2.
With their third straight win the Roadrunners now stand at 8-9 overall, 4-4 in the NJAC and will earn the sixth spot in the upcoming 2013 Women's Soccer NJAC Tournament. This will be the first Tournament appearance in Ramapo women's soccer history.The Tournament bracket will be released Wednesday night.
Catherine Fiore was able to score two goals (15:34 & 25:57) early in the first half for the Scarlet Raptors to put them in the lead, 2-0.
Ninomiya put Ramapo on the board in the 32nd minute of the game as she was able to redirect a corner kick by senior
Katie Popowych to cut the Scarlet Raptor lead in half, 1-2.
Ramapo came out on fire in the second half as Ninomiya and Popowych teamed up once again to tie the game, 2-2, in the 51st minute (50:51). Popowych was able to cross the ball back to Ninomiya before she ripped a shot into the back of the net for her team leading 7th goal of the season.
Samimi was able to use her head and redirect a cross in the box from rookie
Kelsey Sutherland to put the Roadrunners on top, 3-2, with just under thirteen minutes (77:31) to play in the game. The Ramapo defense and senior goalie
Talia Auslin was able to hold off the Scarlet Raptors for the remainder of the game to earn the victory.
Rutgers-Camden out-shot Ramapo in the game, 16-8 while the Roadrunners collected three corner kicks. Auslin stopped seven shots for the Roadrunners while Lauren West tallied two saves for the Scarlet Raptors.
Ramapo will return to action on October 30th when they travel to #8 Montclair State University for a 7pm game.
