Mahwah, NJ: The College of New Jersey women's soccer team defeated Ramapo College today in NJAC action, 5-0. The Lions, who are ranked #7 in the latest IWOC/United Soccer Top 25 Poll, improve to 12-1-2 overall and 7-1 in the conference while the Roadrunners move to 3-5-5 overall and 0-5-3 in the NJAC.
TCNJ scored twice in the opening seven minutes as Jenny Ward put the Lions on the board in the fourth minute off an assist from Alyssa Alfano. Alfano extended the lead to 2-0 in the seventh minute on a penalty kick as the Lions held the advantage into halftime.
TCNJ held a 2-0 lead at halftime before adding three goals in the second half. Lexi Caruso extended the Lions' lead in the 67th minute off an assist from Caroline Freer before Isabella Vilic scored twice (79th & 88th) to secure the 5-0 NJAC victory. The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 28 when they host New Paltz at 3:30 PM in their final regular season match.
