Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated Bard College today, 8-1, in a non-conference match at the Athletic Center Courts. The Roadrunners improve to 8-1 overall while the Raptors fall to 5-2 on the season.
Ramapo won all three doubles matches before beginning singles play.
Carly Agrifolio and
Katrina Biss won at first singles, 8-4, the closest of the three doubles matches.
Sara Luby and
Micala Demchak posted an 8-1 win at second doubles while
Stephanie Abrecht and
Maegan Heaney shut out their opponent at third doubles, 8-0.
Agrifolio was outlasted by her opponent at first singles; as she fell, 3-6, 6-0, 9-11 in a three set match. Luby picked up a win at second singles, 6-3, 6-4, while Abrecht posted a 6-4, 6-1 win at third singles. Demchak recorded a 6-2, 6-3 win at fourth singles while Biss won 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles. In the sixth spot, Heaney posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout to wrap up singles play.
Ramapo returns to action on Friday, October 4th, when they travel to the College of Staten Island for a 4pm match.
