#10 RAMAPO SLIPS PAST ROWAN IN OT

Box Score Glassboro, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated Rowan University, 88-87 in overtime in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up on the road.  Ramapo, behind Anthony LoRusso's 25 points, improves to 11-1 overall, remaining undefeated in the conference at 7-0.  The Profs fall to 10-3 overall, 4-3 in the conference.

The Roadrunners had a six point, 48-42 halftime lead, but Rowan outscored Ramapo, 40-34 in the second period to force overtime with the teams deadlocked at 82.  In overtime, Ramapo went up two with a tip-in from Elgin Brown, and Rich McNamara responded with two free throws knotting the game at 84, the fourth tie of the match-up, with two minutes to play.  The game's fifth tie came just 50 seconds later, before Rowan's Jason Rosenberg put the Profs up, 87-86, hitting the back-end of a two-shot foul.  With just nine seconds remaining, senior Garret Thiel nailed a jump shot giving the Roadrunners the one-point victory.

LoRusso led the Roadrunners with 25 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Brown totaled 21 points and a game-high 16 boards.  Will Sanborn recorded 17 points and six rebounds, and Stephon Treadwell netted 14 points and eight rebounds.

After falling behind, 5-4, the Roadrunners went on a 12-2 run to go ahead, 16-7 with 14:32 on the clock.  Sanborn drained a three-point goal to put the Roadrunners ahead 23-13 at 11:13, before Rowan recorded the next six points to pull within four, 23-19, at 9:11.  The teams traded baskets until the Roadrunners took a 38-35 advantage with 2:35 on the clock. A three-pointer from LoRusso, with 33 seconds to play, gave Ramapo a 48-40 edge.  Phil Jackson converted a layup for Rowan with just four ticks left on the clock, to head into the inermission trailing the Roadrunners, 42-48.  LoRusso totaled 15 points in the first half and Treadwell netted 12.

Ramapo scored six straight points for a ten point, 54-44, lead at the 16:49 minute mark, before the Profs answered with a 21-1 surge to go ahead by ten, 65-55, with 12:04 to play.  McNamara's jump shot at 8:16 pushed the advantage to 15, 74-59, and Ramapo pulled within seven, 70-77, with an 11-3 run at 4:53.  Rosenberg hit a jumper for Rowan with 1:30 to play, giving his team an 82-75 advantage, but the Roadrunners recorded the final seven points of the period to send the game into overtime.  LoRusso sunk two foul shots and Sanborn had one, and  with 29 seconds left, LoRusso made two free throws, before Brown tied the game with two foul shots at the 14 second mark.

For Rowan, Rosenberg recorded 21 points, nine assists, four rebounds and three steals.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they tip-off with SUNY Potsdam at 3pm at the Bradley Center.
