Box Score 2 Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College softball team improved to 19-5 overall with a sweep of Hunter College today at the Athletic Center, 7-0 & 9-1(5). The Hawks fall to 11-17 on the year.
Ramapo got on the board in the first inning when
Danielle Rothenberger drilled a single to center field allowing
Tiffany Fischer to score to go up 1-0.
Janet Brown then ripped a two run home run over the right field fence to take a 3-0 lead.
In the second inning,
Caitlin Smith and Brown ripped back to back home runs, 5-0 before they scored two more runs in the sixth inning. Rothenberger drove home
Jaclyn Lima and
Melanie Eskin with an RBI double to center field, 7-0.
Lima, Rothenberger, Brown and
Lisa Orlando all collected two his for the Roadrunners while Brown led the team with three RBI.
Lauren Shaw earned her 11th win of the season in the complete game shutout with six strikeouts as she scattered three hits in the game.
In game two, Brown and Orlando recorded back to back doubles to take a 1-0 lead.
Kim LaPenta recorded an infield ground out, scoring Orlando from third base, 2-0. In the third inning, Ramapo scored seven runs on six hits, highlighted by
Lisa Orlando's three run home run and
Tiffany Fischer's bases loaded doubles picking up three RBI.
Hunter scored one run in the fourth inning as Megan Meehan scored on a sacrifice fly by Kristen McGoldric, 9-1.
Fischer was 2-2 with three RBI and one run scored while
Lisa Orlando finished 2-2 with two runs scored and four RBI.
Nicole Schneider earned her fifth win of the season in the complete game win. She recorded three strikeouts while scattering three hits.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday when they host NJAC rival Richard Stockton College at 1:00 PM.
