MASIELLO, SHAW LEAD RAMAPO, 10-6, 4-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Claremont, FL: The Ramapo College softball team swept a pair of games today at the NTC Spring Games as they defeated Bethel University, 10-6 and the University of Wisconsin Platteville, 4-0. The Roadrunners now stand at 9-1 overall.

Ramapo jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game one against Bethel in the first inning. Amanda Kent led off the game with a single and stole second base before Tiffany Fischer picked up an RBI single up the middle. Kelsey Higgins singled down the right field line allowing Danielle Rothenberger to score before Caitlin Smith scored later in the inning on a pass ball. Higgins scored on Lisa Orlando's infield ground out. Bethel scored one run in the bottom of the inning before Ramapo added two runs in the second and fifth inning to take a 8-1 lead.

Bethel would come back and score five runs on six hits to shrink the Roadrunner lead to 8-6 before Ramapo would get two back in the top of the seventh. Rothenberger ripped her third home run of the year over the center field fence while Higgins scored on a throwing error. Higgins reached on a single up the middle earlier in the inning.

Harley Masiello (2-0) went the distance for the Roadrunners as she struck out six. Kent finished the game 2-3 with two runs scored and one RBI while Fischer was 3-5. Rothenberger, Higgins and Orlando each collected two hits while Orlando and Rothenberger each posted two RBI.

In game two, Ramapo's Lauren Shaw fired a two-hit shutout while striking out eight and walking one in the complete game win. Shaw not stands at 5-1 on the season.

The Roadrunners scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Back to back bunt singles by Jaclyn Lima and Tiffany Fischer put runners on base for Ramapo before Rothenberger drilled a single to right center field to plate Lima for the go ahead run. Fischer later scored on Smith's single, 2-0.

Ramapo picked up two key runs in the bottom of the sixth, Rothenberger tripled down the right field line and come home on Smith's single to center field. Higgin's moved Smith over with a sacrifice bunt before Kim LaPenta ripped a single to right center allowing Smith to score, 4-0. Shaw and the Ramapo defense held Platteville in the seventh for their ninth win on the year.

Ramapo returns to action on Friday when they take on #25 Tufts University at 9:00 AM and Hope College at 11:00 AM.
