RED HAWKS SLIP PAST RAMAPO WITH LAST SECOND SHOT, 75-73

ROADRUNNERS CLINCH NJAC TOURNAMENT BIRTH, WILL HOST ROWAN ON SATURDAY

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  The Red Hawks of Montclair State defeated the Ramapo College men's basketball team tonight at the Bradley Center, 75-73 on a last second three pointer by Andrew August as time expired.

The Roadrunners already clinched a NJAC Tournament bid prior to the game today, they will now host rival #3 seed in the south Rowan University on Saturday at 7:00pm at the Bradley Center.

The two teams traded baskets until MSU took the lead with 9:56 left in the half, 16-13 on a made foul shot by Ken Rubenstein. The Red Hawks went up seven on a made basket by Daniel Singleton, 20-13 (8:38) before Ramapo would tie the game on a three pointer by Ryan Velez, 22-22 (6:41) before MSU went on an 8-0 to take a 30-22 lead with 4:07 left in the half. They extended their lead to ten, 34-24 (3:24) before Ramapo went on a 9-0 run to close the half only down one, 34-33 as Demetrius Boards nailed a jumper off an assist from Jermaine Emanuel.

In the second half the game was tied five times in the first five minutes before MSU hit a three by Ken Rubenstein, 50-47 (15:26). Ramapo would tie the game at 52 on a made basket by Stephon Treadwell while Will Sanborn nailed a jumper to take a, 54-52 lead (12:44). The game was tied for the 11th time before the Roadrunners took the lead on Emanuel's foul shot with 66-65, 4:29 left to go in the game before MSU posted a two point lead, 72-68 (2:19) on a jumper by Singleton. Ramapo regained the lead when Garret Thiel drove the basket for two points with 1:36 to go in the game putting the Roadrunners up 73-72 (1:36).  Ramapo had the chance to go up three with 22 seconds remaining in the game but did not capitalize on their foul shots allowing Montclair State to set up the game winning shot by August.

Boards led the team with a double double, 13 points and 13 rebounds while Treadwell led the team with 21 points, eight rebounds. Sanborn, Emanuel and Thiel each posted ten points while Emanuel dished out a team high seven assists.

August led the Red Hawks with 19 points and six assists while Singleton added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ordel Goldson added 12 points and 15 rebounds while Rubenstein posted ten points.
