MOORE LEADS RAMAPO TO 65-57 VICTORY OVER KEAN

Box Score Mahwah, NJ:  Micaela Moore led the Ramapo College women's basketball team to a 65-57 victory over the Cougars of Kean University tonight to remain undefeated at the start of the 2012-2013 season at 5-0 overall.  With the eight point loss, the Cougars fall to 1-3 overall.

Moore had a double-double leading the Roadrunners with 15 rebounds and 11 points as the Roadrunners finished out the game shooting 43% (20-47) from the field and 86% (24-28) from the line. 

The two teams traded baskets until Ramapo took the lead just under three minutes into the game with two foul shots from Faith Flannery to go up 6-4.  Ramapo stretched the lead to six with 15:28 left in the half with a good three point shot by Jackie Jerkovich and Kerrie Kosakowski helped the Roadrunners take a 17 point, 26-9, lead capping off a 12 point run with nine minutes to play.  Kean's Sharell Lowe cut the lead to 13 with two good jump shots but the Roadrunners answered back taking their biggest lead in the half to 20 points with 3:17 left with a jump shot from Alex Milne.  The Cougars came within 13 to end the half, 35-22. 

The Roadrunners shot 48% (12-25) from the field and 83% (10-12) from the line in the first 20 minutes of play, while Kean shot 23% (6-21) from the field and 91% (10-11) from the line.  Kosakowski led Ramapo with eight points at the half while Moore had six rebounds.   

Ramapo opened the second half by stretching their lead to 19 when Jerkovich made a two point shot to go up 41-22.  Kean answered back closing in on the Roadrunners' lead with a seven point run finished with a free-throw by Sharell Lowe, 41-29, with just under 16 minutes to play.  The Cougars continued to close in narrowing Ramapo's lead to six with 10:22 left to play, 45-39.  Ramapo fought to go back up 12 with two free throws by Kosakowski and traded baskets with the Cougars for the remainder of the game earning the 65-57 victory.

Flannery and Kosakowski each had 12 points for Ramapo.  The Cougars shot 42% (20-48) from the field and 73% (16-22) from the line as Lowe led the way with 15 points and three rebounds. 

The Roadrunners return to action Saturday, December 1st at 1:00pm when they travel to Rutgers-Camden for a NJAC match-up.
