Mahwah, NJ: The College of New Jersey women's tennis team defeated Ramapo College 9-0 at the Athletic Center to claim their 29th straight New Jersey Athletic Conference title.
The Lions have won every conference crown since the conference began sponsoring the sport in 1982 and have won all 142 matches against NJAC foes. This season, TCNJ not only finished 6-0 in the conference, but secured the NJAC's first automatic bid into the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships next spring. This is the first season the conference has had an automatic bid into the national tournament.
The loss was the first setback for the Roadrunners against a conference opponent this fall as they fell to 3-1 in the NJAC and 6-2 overall. The Lions swept both singles and doubles action in the win.
Ramapo will return to the court when they host Kean University on September 29th at 3:30 PM.
