RAMAPO TAKES ONE FROM STOCKTON, 13-4 IN EIGHT INNINGS, GAME TWO POSTPONED

Lauren Shaw improves to 3-0 on the mound for the Roadrunners

Pomona, NJ: Richard Stockton (12-13, 2-7 NJAC) sent the first game of their doubleheader with Ramapo (19-6, 5-4 NJAC) to extra innings but then the Roadrunners put ten runs on the board in the extra frame to send Stockton to a 13-4 defeat. The second game was postponed due to rain.

The Ospreys broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning as Bianca DiDolce (South Plainfield/South Plainfield) singled and Heather Corica (Iselin/JFK) walked. Arianna Donzuso (Hammonton/St. Joseph) then singled home pinch-runner Meaghan Ireland (Galloway/Absegami) with the game's first tally.

Ramapo stormed right back in the fifth inning on a Tiffany Fischer (Woddcliff Lake/Pascack Hills) double that scored two runs. Danielle Rothenberger's (Livingston/Livingston) groundout then scored Amanda Kent (Sparta/Pope John XXII) to give Ramapo a 3-1 lead.

The Ospreys tied it back up in the bottom half of the inning as DiDolce tripled to score two runs for a 3-3 tie. The game would stay knotted until the top of the eighth inning when the Roadrunners exploded for the double-digit frame. The inning was highlighted by four walks, two hit batters, two doubles and a grand slam by Krystal Kmiechick (Waretown/Southern Regional) that put the game out of reach. Stockton scored a run in the bottom half of the inning to set the final score.

Kent had five hits in five at bats while teammates Ashley Schirripa (Staten Island, NY/ Fontbonne Hall Academy), Caitlin Smith (Hawthorne/Hawthorne) and Kmiechick had two knocks apiece in the 17-hit attack for Ramapo.

DiDolce had three hits and two RBI for the Ospreys. Joey Afflitto (Brick/Brick) and Ally Roma (West Long Branch/Shore Regional) had two hits each in the defeat.

Danielle Accardi (East Brunswick/Mount St. Mary) took the loss, dropping her record to 1-2. Lauren Shaw (Wayne/Wayne Valley) remained unbeaten for Ramapo, raising her record to 3-0
