Reading, PA: The Ramapo College softball team swept a non-conference double header against Albright College today, 6-0 and 15-0 in six innings. The Roadrunners improve to 11-1 overall while the Lions fall to 6-12.
In game one, Ramapo tallied 12 hits with four players recording two hits a piece. They would get all the runs they would need in the fourth inning when
Stephanie Malgeri cracked her first homerun of the season over the right field wall, playing
Janet Brown who singled earlier in the inning.
Lisa Orlando doubled to left field before
Kelsey Higgins ripped a single up the middle as Orlando scored on the play.
In the fifth inning,
Amanda Kent and
Kristen Wilson led off the inning with back to back singles, they moved up a base on Rothenberger's sacrifice bunt before
Ashley Schirripa ripped a double to right centerfield, 2-0.
Stephanie Malgeri singled through the right side of the infield to plate Schirripa for a 3-0 lead.
Winning pitcher
Deanna Giordano (5-1) struck out five in the complete game victory, firing a one hitter.
In game two, Ramapo got on the board early in the first inning with an RBI single from Schirripa, 1-0. In the second inning they scored four runs on two hits, aided by two Lion errors to take a 5-0 lead. They inning was highlighted by a bases loaded walk by
Rebecca Gorney and Rothenberger's two RBI single, scoring
Deanna Russomanno and
Krystal Kmiechick. The Roadrunners added one run in the third and four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Schrippa singled home Rothenberger who doubled down the left field line to lead off the inning before
Janet Brown ripped a home run to center field, plating Schirripa.
In the fifth inning, the team added five runs on three hits as
Harley Masiello smacked a pinch hit home run over the right field wall, Brown and
Cara Maloney scored on the play. Russomanno ripped a double to left field as Higgins and Fischer scored, 15-0.
Lyndsay Buehler fired a complete game shutout as she struck out five, scattering three hits and walking one.
The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday at 3:30pm when they host non-conference foe #22 Moravian College.
