Kissimmee, FL: The Ramapo College (7-1) softball team dropped their first game of the day, 5-1 loss to Saint Norbert College (1-6) and came back with a 4-2 win against Millikin University (6-3).
Saint Norbert College scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Ramapo would tie the game in the fourth inning when
Danielle Rothenberger walked to lead of the inning before she was lifted for pinch runner
Erin Brady. After a single and a walk the bases were loaded for pinch hitter
Caitlin Smith who drilled a single into right field, scoring Brady from third base, 1-1.
Saint Norbert would once again take the lead with a lead off home run to center field from Morgan Buboltz, 2-1. Saint Norbert would tack on three runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-1 lead.
Deanna Giordano (3-1) struck out nine in the loss without walking a batter while the Roadrunners only collected three hits in the game.
In game two, Ramapo scored with two outs in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Amanda Kent singled to right field and advanced to second on a wild pitch before
Caitlin Smith smacked a double down the left field line.
Millikin would tie the game in the bottom half of the inning, with a bases loaded walk with two outs. The Roadrunners would take back the lead in the fourth inning when
Janet Brown doubled down the right field line and
Stephanie Malgeri's infield single advanced Brown to third.
Erin Brady smacked a single to left field, picking up the RBI for a 2-1 lead.
Millikin tied the game in the sixth with one run on a single to right field before the Roadrunners scored the final two runs of the game in the seventh inning. After one out Brady drew a walk before
Kelsey Higgins ripped a single to left field and Kent walked to load the bases. Smith then drove home Brady and Higgins with a hard hit single into the right-center field gap for the lead.
Lyndsay Buehler (3-0) struck out six in the complete game victory, scattering five hits. Smith was 3-4 with three RBI while Brown, Malgeri, Brady and Higgins each recorded one hit.
Ramapo returns to action tomorrow in their final day at the Rebel Spring Games when they take on Illinois Wesleyan at 9am and Simpson at 1pm.
