Kissimmee, FL: The Ramapo College softball team remains undefeated on the season with a 6-0 record as they swept Anderson University and Centenary College today at the Rebel Spring Games.
The Roadrunners struck with two runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead that would be enough as Ramapo defeated Anderson University (IN), 2-1.
Rebecca Gorney led off the first inning with a double down the left field line before
Amanda Kent singled to left field allowing Gorney to advance to third while Kent took second base on the incoming throw from the outfield. Back to back run scoring singles by Ashley Schrripa and
Janet Brown allowed Ramapo to take the lead.
Anderson got one back in the bottom half of the inning with a single to center field by Stephanie Atkins, scoring Katie Lee who singled to center to lead off. Ramapo's
Deanna Giordano (3-0) and the defense would hold the Ravens to just five hits in the game as she struck out seven and only walked one. Kent was 2-4 with one run scored while Schirripa was 2-4 with one RBI. Gorney,
Danielle Rothenberger and Brown each collected a hit for Ramapo.
In game two the offense came alive as they pounded out 13 hits as they defeated Centenary, 9-1 in six innings. Five different Roadrunners tallied two hits a piece and
Lauren Shaw (1-0) recorded five strikeouts in the complete game victory.
Centenary got on the board in the first inning with one run before Ramapo answered back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, 1-1. Rothenberger doubled home Kent, who reached on a infield single earlier in the inning. The Roadrunners took the lead for good in the second inning as they scored three runs on four hits for a 4-1 margin. With one out
Kelsey Higgins and Kent each recorded infield singles before
Caitlin Smith ripped a single to center field, plating Higgins. With two outs, Schirripa ripped a double down the left field line picking up two RBI. Ramapo tacked on one run in the third and fourth innings before scoring two more in the fifth inning. With runners at second and third, Rothenberger lined a single into center field, plating both Higgins and Kent. Ramapo scored the ninth run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as

Kent, Rothenberger, Schirripa, Kmiechick and Malgeri all collected two hits in the game while Smith, Brown and Higgins had one hit. Kent scored three runs for Ramapo while Higgins crossed the plate twice in the game.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they take on Saint Norbert at 11am and Millikin at 3pm.
