Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team defeated SUNY Old Westbury, 11-2 on the road at the 2010 Liberty Cup hosted by New Jersey City University. The Roadrunners now stand at 2-3 on the season.
The Roadrunners got on the board 11:09 into the game when rookie
Rachael Viscusi (Blackwood, NJ) took a pass from rookie
Karol Gomez (Woodbridge, NJ) to go up 1-0 before the Panthers tied the game three minutes later.
Senior
Melissa Demko (East Brunswick, NJ) tallied her first goal of the season 30:12 into the game, she was assisted by senior
Kristina Marinello (Washington Township, NJ) to go up 2-0. The Panthers once again tied the game before Ramapo sophomore
Susan Hayes (Wayne, NJ) connected with
Melanie Pupo (Newton, NJ) as Hayes knocked a header into the back of the net to take a 3-2 lead.
The Roadrunners were awarded a penalty kick, 41:08 into the first half as Pupo was able to tally her third goal of the season.
In the second half the Roadrunners recorded seven unanswered goals. Seniors
Kimberly Bruno (Middletown, NJ), Demko and
Brittney Harraka (Clifton, NJ) each scored two goals while Pupo added her second goal of the game.
The Roadrunners out shot the Panthers, 42-7 in the game while Ramapo recorded 11 corners. Rookie
Talia Auslin (Fair Lawn, NJ) posted four saves in the victory.
