Brooklyn, NY: The Ramapo College baseball team improved to 11-10 overall with a 14-8 win over John Jay College. The Bloodhounds now stand at 6-22 overall.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second inning scoring four runs on five hits and two John Jay errors. Sophomore
Dan Moreno (Cranford, NJ) singled to center field to lead off the inning before being advanced to second on a single by rookie
Christian Spurr (Warren, NJ). The ball was misplayed on the throw back into the infield allowing Moreno to score and Spurr to advance all the way to third base. Rookie
Michael Hansford (Hillsborough, NJ) plated Spurr with a sacrifice fly to left field. Rookie
John Baab (North Caldwell, NJ) singled up the middle as sophomore
Daniel Mauriello (Monroe, NY) scored on the play, he singled to reach base earlier in the inning. Junior
Rob Dimperio (Jackson, NJ) recorded an infield single allowing senior
Justin Donnarumma (Wayne, NJ) to score from third base to go up 4-0. With the bases loaded and one out pinch hitter senior
Peter Sita (Bayonne, NJ) reached on a fielder's choice wile junior
Matt Buragina (Matawan, NJ) to score from third, 5-0.
John Jay got one back on the fifth inning before Ramapo tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth inning. John Jay added runs in the sixth and seventh innings before scoring three runs on three hits in the eighth inning, 11-7. Ramapo got those three runs back in the top of the ninth inning. With the bases loaded, Sita scored from third base on a balk by the John Jay pitcher and everyone moved up a base before junior
Nicholas DiGirolamo (Dumont, NJ) walked to once again load the bases for Ramapo. Buragina ripped a single through the left side of the infield with two outs, plating Spurr and rookie
Michael Molfetas (Waldwick, NJ) to take a 14-7 lead. The Bloodhounds tacked on their final run in the bottom half of the inning.
Rookie
James Knight (Cranford, NJ) picked up his first win of the season in four innings of work for the Roadrunners. He struck out five and did not walk a batter as he scattered six hits. Moreno was 2-3 with two runs scored while Spur was 2-5 with two runs scored. Mauriello was 2-3 with two runs scored and two RBI and Buragina was 3-4 with one run scored and four RBI.
Ramapo returns to the field when they host Baruch College tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
