RAMAPO GETS SIXTH WIN OF YEAR BEHIND 19 POINTS FROM FLANNERY

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's basketball team earned a 70-57 non-conference victory tonight at the Bradley Center over the Hunter Hawks behind 19 points from sophomore Faith Flannery. With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 6-1 overall while the Hawks fall to 2-5.

Flannery hit 8-14 from the field including three baskets from behind the charity stripe while Lindsey Gripenburg recorded 16 and Alexa Ryan contributed 14 points to the 13-point win. Brittany Hoffman dished out seven assists in the win while her team combined shooting 25-53 (47%) on the night. Hunter went 20-65 (31%). Stewartson recorded a team high 18 points and Nicole Leonard and Kristen Markoe each recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and 12 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Leonard grabbed five steals in the loss.

With a three-pointer from Gripenburg and two good free throws from Tiffany Osorio, the Roadrunners opened to a 5-0 lead before the Hawks got on the board with a three-point goal at 17:41 to come within two points. Flannery sunk a jump shot and Kristen Markoe responded with a second Hawk three-pointer to make it a one-point, 7-6 game with just over 16 minutes to play. Over the next five minutes, the two teams traded baskets and the lead changed five times, staying within one point of each other. The Hawks then strung together nine points, and held Ramapo to four, to open up to a 22-16 lead. Gripenburg and Flannery cut the lead to two points but the Hawks took control again gaining a 39-27 lead, their biggest of the half, with just over two minutes on the clock. Flannery put away two more points to head into the locker room with a ten-point, 39-29 deficit to Hunter.

Flannery and Gripenburg led Ramapo with eight first half points combining hitting 7-14 from the field, while the team went 12-24 (50%). Danielle Beam led the way with a team high four rebounds. Shamar Stewartson netted 14 points and Markoe sunk ten points in the half for Hunter. The team went 15-32 (47%) from the field. Marta Banach grabbed six boards and Nicole Lenard grabbed five of her own.

It took the Roadrunners the opening five plus minutes of the second half to work their way to a 41-41 tie as Beam got a dish from Brittany Hoffman and hit the lay-up for the game's second tie. The first came in the opening six minutes, (9-9). The Hawks would score only three points in the next seven minutes allowing Ramapo to earn a six –point, 50-44 lead with 8:02 to play. At 12:05, Alexa Ryan sparked a 6-0 Ramapo run that was capped off by a jumper from Beam. Coming out of a timeout, Ramapo would string together another 11 points to Hunter's two going up, 61-46. The run was capped off with two points from Ryan. The Roadrunners held on to the final buzzer earning the 70-57 non-conference victory.

Flannery sunk 11 of her 19 points in the final 20 minutes of play while Ryan contributed ten in the half. The team went 13-29 (45%) while Hunter combined hitting 15% (5-33) of their shots. Ramapo forced 11 Hawk turnovers to assist in the come-from-behind victory.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, December 8th when they travel to New York City College of Technology for a 5pm tip-off in a non-conference basketball match-up.
