Women's Soccer

BABICE LEADS PROFS OVER ROADRUNNERS, 5-0

Mahwah, NJ: The Profs of Rowan University defeated the Ramapo College women's soccer team today at the Athletic Center, 5-0. The Roadrunners fall to 5-9 overall, 0-6 in the NJAC while the Profs improve to 11-1-1, 5-1 in the conference.

Rowan is currently ranked 22nd in the latest NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings. Junior Veronica Rhea (Pennsauken, NJ) wasted no time in putting the Profs on-top, 1-0 just 4:20 into the game as she tallied her seventh goal of the season off a cross from Jess Babice (Groveville, NJ). Babice scored her 14th and 15th goal of the season late in the second half to take a 3-0 lead. She posted her first goal at 41:50 off an cross from Melanie Wittenberger (Tabernacle, NJ) and her second at 42:28 unassisted.

Babice would record a hat trick with her third goal of the game, 16th of the season, at 50:46 before junior Evynn Wright (Marlton, NJ) knocked in the team's fifth goal of the game at 58:22, she was assisted by rookie Dayna Sakalsky (Long Valley, NJ).

For the Profs, rookie goalkeeper Deana Ward (Voorhees, NJ) made three saves in 63:17 minutes of work while junior Jillian Brannan would complete the shutout as she tallied two saves in the final 26:43 of the game.

Junior Alyssa Krall (Toms River, NJ) tallied five saves in the game while senior Kimberly Bruno (Middletown, NJ) and rookie Katie Popowych (Aberdeen, NJ) each had two shots on goal for the Roadrunners.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday when they travel to Richard Stockton College for a 1:00 PM game.
