TWO LATE GOALS FROM ALTMAN GIVES STOCKTON 2-1 VICTORY IN NJAC ACTION

Mahwah, NJ:  The Ospreys of Richard Stockton earned a come-from-behind 2-1 victory today over the Roadrunners of Ramapo College in a women's soccer New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Athletic Center.  With the win, the Ospreys remain undefeated in conference play improving to 3-0, while earning their eighth win of the 2009 season, improving to 8-1 overall.  Ramapo falls to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

After an even first half, with Ramapo holding a slight edge in shots, 6-5, sophomore Melanie Pupo (Newton, NJ) put a ball away for Ramapo at 48:09, off an assist from junior Kimberly Bruno (Middletown, NJ) to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 advantage with her first goal of the season.  The goal would be Ramapo's final shot of the half before the Ospreys stepped up their game out shooting the Roadrunners, 11-1 in the final 45 minutes of play, testing senior netminder Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) on three occasions.

Ramapo held Stockton until the final five minutes of the game when Amanda Altman (Beachwood, NJ) struck for the first time, tying the game on a rebounded shot from Ashley Battilana (West Deptford, NJ).  It took just under two minutes for Altman to fire a second shot past the Ramapo goalkeeper to take the lead, 2-1, scoring what turned out to be the game winner, off an assist from Shelley Gibney (Shamong, NJ).

The Ospreys held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks in the final half, edging Ramapo 5-3 on the day, while out shooting the Roadrunners 16-7 in the full 90 minutes of play.  Maria Dorris (Mantua, NJ) blocked two shots in the game while DaRold finished the day with six saves for Ramapo.

The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, September 30th when they host NJAC rival, New Jersey City University at 4pm at the Athletic Center.  The Ospreys take on Rowan University in Glassboro on Wednesday at 7pm.
