Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team came away with a 1-0 victory over the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners open up the season 1-0 while the Hawks fall to 0-1.
Rookie
Rebecca Maccia (Point Pleasant, NJ) ripped a shot into the back of the net off a pass from junior
Melissa Demko (East Brunswick, NJ) to put Ramapo in the lead 1-0 in the second half.
Senior goal keeper
Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) picked up the shutout as she posted four saves in the game. Senior
Margaret Sciarretta (Kearny, NJ) had two shots on goal that nearly missed the back of the net for Ramapo. The Roadrunners defense and DaRold did the rest as they held the Hawks in the second half to preserve the shutout.
For SUNY New Paltz, sophomore goal keeper Danielle Gura (Oceanside, NY) posted three saves in the loss.
Ramapo returns to action this Saturday, September 5th against host Rochester Institute of Technology at 10:30 AM.
