Pomona, NJ: Ramapo (25-9, 11-7) swept an NJAC doubleheader from Richard Stockton (24-12, 7-9) by scores of 4-1 and 4-2 today.
Rachel Wong (Livingston/Livingston) went 3-4 with a double and two RBI for the Roadrunners in the opener.
Katie Donnelly (North Haledon/ Eastern Christian) went 2-2 with two runs and
Deanna Giordano (Clifton/Clifton) allowed just one run on seven hits with nine strikeouts for the win. Samantha Horner (Newfield/ Buena) was 2-3 at the plate for Stockton.
Ramapo jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on RBI doubles by Wong and
Kelly Schriber (Montclair/Mt. St. Dominic). Brooke Shetter (Atco/Hammonton) ripped an RBI double with two outs in the fourth inning to pull Stockton within 2-1, but Ramapo added two more runs in the top of seventh on RBI singles by Wong and
Marilee Farmer (Toms River/TR East) for the 4-1 victory.
Danielle Rothenberger (Livingston/Livingston) and
Stephanie Malgeri (Montville/ Montville) each went 2-3 for Ramapo in the nightcap. Winning pitcher
Lyndsay Buehler (River Vale/Pascack Valley) allowed two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts. For Stockton, Lindsay Connell (Rahway/Rahway) went 2-3 with a triple and Joey Afflitto (Brick/ Brick) was 2-3 with a run scored.
Kelly Dodd (Linwood/Mainland) doubled in two runs in the top of the first inning to give Stockton an early 2-0 lead. Ramapo quickly got a run back on an RBI single by Wong in the bottom half for a 2-1 count. The Roadrunners scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning for the 4-2 triumph. Farmer stroked a two-run single and Rothenberger added an RBI single in the decisive three-run spurt.
Stockton will conclude the regular season with an NJAC doubleheader at Rutgers-Camden tomorrow at 4 pm. Ramapo will end its regular season with a non-league twinbill at Staten Island tomorrow at 1 pm.
