Reading, PA: The Ramapo College softball team swept a non-conference double header today on the road against Albright College, 1-0 and 15-0. Ramapo improves to 12-0 on the season and the Lions fall to 3-15.
In game one senior
Marilee Farmer (Toms River, NJ) doubled to lead off the top of the second inning and sophomore
Brittney McKeon (Toms River, NJ) singled while sophomore
Stephanie Malgeri (Montville, NJ) walked to load the bases with only one out. Farmer scored on a wild pitch to give Ramapo the 1-0 lead.
Sophomore pitcher
Deanna Giordano (Clifton, NJ) would strike out 11 and surrendered her first two walks of the season as she held the Lions to only four hits in the complete game.
Junior
Katie Donnelly (North Haledon, NJ) went 2-4 while McKeon went 2-3.
In game two Ramapo pounded out 25 hits and scored 15 runs. The Roadrunners would get all the runs they needed in the top of the first inning when they scored two runs on three hits. Donnelly singled to lead off the inning and stole second before sophomore
Rachel Wong (Livingston, NJ) picked up the RBI with a double. Wong scored on rookie
Tiffany Fischer's (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) RBI single.
In the third inning they would tack on two more. Junior
Jen Vitorino (Old Bridge, NJ) singled while Wong doubled to put runners on second on third before Farmer knocked in Vitorino with an sacrifice fly. Senior
Kelly Schriber (Montclair, NJ) singled home Wong to take a 4-0 lead.
The Roadrunners would pound out 15 hits and score 11 runs in the fourth inning highlighted by Vitorino's second home run of the season. Donnelly, Vitorino and Wong each went 4-5 while Wong scored four runs. Fischer and Schriber each went 3-3 while Fischer picked up three RBI and Schriber two. Rookie
Danielle Rothenberger (Livingston, NJ) and sophomore
Jaclyn Giangrande (Belleville, NJ) each went 2-2 in the game.
Sophomore
Lyndsay Buehler (River Vale, NJ) fired a four hitter over four innings of work to pick up her sixth win of the season, she struck out six and walked two. Rookie
Lauren Shaw (Wayne, NJ) took over in the fifth inning as she did not give up a hit in relief.
The Roadrunners open up the 2009 NJAC season when they host Rowan University on Saturday, March 28th at 1:00 PM.
