Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated Stockton College in a key NJAC match-up today at the Athletic Center, 5-4. The Roadrunners finished in second place in the conference with a 4-1 conference record. The Ospreys are 2-2 in the conference with one game remaining.
The Roadrunners came in second place for the first time in Head Coach Nanine Gallo's tenure. They last time they defeated Stockton was in 2001.
Ramapo came out of doubles play with only one point as sophomore 
Jywel Almirante (Newton, NJ) teamed up with junior 
Erin Gerhard (Cape May, NJ) as they defeated Olivia Shapiro and Christina Ledwith, 8-1 at third doubles.
Sophomore 
Laura Strandberg (East Brunswick, NJ) now stands at 8-5 overall after defeating Christy Alexander, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 at first singles.
Rookie 
Alexandria Potosnak took home a victory at third singles for the Roadrunners as she beat Stephanie Krupa, 2-6, 7-6, 7-3. Potosnak now stands at 11-2 on the season.
Almirante picked up Ramapo's fourth point of the match defeating Janessa DiOrio in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Almirante now stands at 10-3 on the season. Sophomore 
Brittany Pitts (Pompton Lakes, NJ) propelled Ramapo to victory with a win at sixth singles. She defeated Nicole Rodriguez, 6-7, 8-6, 6-4 for her 6th singles win of the season.
The Roadrunners (8-5) will return to the tennis court in the spring when they travel to Orlando, FL in March, 2010.
