Union, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team ran their winning streak to nine games when they defeated Kean University today, 8-1 on the road. The Roadrunners now stand at 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference while the Cougars drop to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Ramapo swept the doubles matches earning the first three points while picking up all but one point during the singles matches.
Junior
Alison Tukel (Morris Plains, NJ) and senior
Liza Wyble (Millville, NJ) picked up their fourth victory of the season, 8-3, over Lisette LaForge and Katherine Arauz at first doubles. The rookie duo of
Taryn Potenza (Garfield, NJ) and
Laura Strandberg (East Brunswick, NJ) shutout Kathleen Stuthers and Radhee Sheth, 8-0 before senior
Jennifer Finaldi (West Milford, NJ) and rookie
Jywel Almirante (Newton, NJ) defeated Michelle Tofel and Christina Cohen, 8-1.
For the Cougars Lisette LaForge defeated junior
Kristine Austria (Jersey City, NJ), 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), to pick up thier only point of the match. Potenza earned her third win of the season defeating Katherine Arauz, 6-2, 6-1 before Tukel defeated Christina Cohen, 6-1, 6-2 at second singles. Strandberg, Almirante and Wyble each shutout thier opponents, 6-0, 6-0, to wrap up fourth through sixth singles.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host NCAA Division II Dowling College on September 27th at Noon.
