Mahwah, NJ: The Lady Roadrunners cruised past the Valiants of Manhattanville College today, 9-0, in a non-conference women's tennis match-up held at the Athletic Center on the campus of Ramapo College. The Roadrunners improve to 4-2 on the year while Manhattanville falls to 0-3.
At first doubles,
Alison Tukel (Morris Plains, NJ) paired up with
Liza Wyble (Millville, NJ) earning an 8-5 win before
Laura Strandberg (East Brunswick, NJ) and
Taryn Potenza (Garfield, NJ) and
Jen Finaldi (West Milford, NJ) and
Jywel Almirante (Newton, NJ) swept the doubles match-ups, each pair earning the shut out, 8-0.
Kristine Austria (Jersey City, NJ) opened singles action with a 6-2, 6-2 win and Tukel followed earning another point for the Roadrunners at second singles defeating Scarlette Rodriguez, 6-2, 6-1. Strandberg shut out Danielle Waldron and Almirante shut out Julia Romano at third and fourth singles respectively.
Nicole Pitts (Pompton Lakes, NJ) and Wyble wrapped up the match with victories of their own. Pitts went 6-0, 6-2 at fifth singles and in the sixth spot, Wyble earned a 7-5, 6-1 win.
The Roadrunners take on Hunter College on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
