Jywel Almirante (Newton, NJ) paired up with
Jen Finaldi (West Milford, NJ) in doubles action, and stood strong by herself at fifth singles, leading the Roadrunners to a 9-0 victory over Baruch. The Roadrunners improve to 3-2 overall while Baruch opens the year at 0-1.
Almirante posted an 8-2 win at third doubles with Finaldi, and defeated Mariya Korobkova, 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles, earning two points for the Lady Roadrunners.
Liza Wyble (Millville, NJ) and
Alison Tukel (Morris Plains, NJ) earned a win at first doubles, 8-3, and
Taryn Potenza (Garfield, NJ) and
Laura Strandberg (East Brunswick, NJ) teamed up at second doubles posting an 8-4 win, to go 3-0 in doubles match-ups.
Kristine Austria (Jersey City, NJ) went 6-2, 6-1 at first singles and Strangberg shut out her opponent, 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles, earning another point for the Roadrunners. Rookie
Nicole Pitts (Pompton Lakes, NJ) earned a shut out of her own at sixth singles.
Both Tukel and Potenza played incomplete matches at second and third singles respectively. Both won their first sets, 7-5 and 6-3 respectively before Baruch forfeited the final sets.
The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, September 15th when they take on Manhattenville at home at 4:00 PM.
