STOCKTON EDGES RAMAPO 57-52

Pomona, NJ) – Kelley Guarrera (Shamong/Shawnee) registered a double-double with team highs of 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Richard Stockton (7-4, 2-1 NJAC) to a 57-52 NJAC victory over Ramapo (3-10, 0-3 NJAC) this afternoon.  Kristin Sciarrillo (Edison/Edison) added 11 points and eight rebounds while Lisa Neira (Cresskill/Cresskill) tied her career high with eight assists and also scored six points for the Ospreys.    

Tiffany China (West Orange/West Orange) shot 9-13 from the field and led Ramapo with a career-high 23 points.  Lauren Moschel (Fair Lawn/St. Mary) contributed 11 points and six assists for the Roadrunners, who dropped their ninth consecutive game.

The score was tied nine times and neither team led by more than five points in the first half.  Sciarrillo snapped a 25-25 deadlock with a free throw in the final minute to give Stockton a slim 26-25 lead at the break.  China kept Ramapo close with 12 first-half points.

In the second half, Moschel drained a three-pointer to tie the game at 46 with 9:32 to play, but Ramapo then went scoreless for over seven minutes.  Stockton reeled off 10 consecutive points, with the spurt ending on a layup by Sciarrillo that gave the Ospreys a 56-46 advantage with 2:18 remaining.  Ramapo closed the gap to four points in the final minute before Stockton closed out the 57-52 triumph.

Stockton will host DeSales University in a non-conference game on Monday at 7 pm.  Ramapo will host Muhlenberg in a non-league game on Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
