Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's tennis team defeated the Devils of FDU Florham today in their season opener at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners took six out of nine match-ups earning the victory to start the year 1-0 overall.
The Roadrunners took four of six singles match-ups and added two doubles wins behind Alison Tukel (Morris Plains, NJ) and Liza Wyble (Millville, NJ) who both went 2-0 on the day. Each added a singles victory at first and fourth singles respectively before pairing up at first doubles dropping the FDU pair, 8-5. Tukel earned a 6-3, 6-0 singles win and Wyble went 6-2, 6-3 in her square off with Megan Koenig of FDU. Jennifer Finaldi (West Milford, NJ) posted a singles victory in the five hole, 6-4, 6-4 and Rebecca Drexl (Franklin, NJ) wrapped up singles action defeating Katrina Musto, 6-1, 6-0 in the final singles match-up.
Drexl and teammate Ashley Wnek (Colonia, NJ) posted Ramapo's final point at third doubles shutting out the FDU pair, 8-0.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they travel to the Haverford Tournament to face Haverford and Moravian beginning at 9:00 AM.
